We have contracted work thru 2023 and need to continue building our Midwest team. At present our immediate need is an experienced  Job Superintendent.

Project Superintendent

INTRODUCTION: The Project Superintendent’s (PS) primary function for Window City is one of the most important activities in the company. It is through the PS’s efforts of effectively working crews, organizing work, and scheduling activities to work in unity with each other, that maximum profits are attained. The PS’s principal duty is to properly supervise the work of the crews (and tools/equipment) to achieve maximum production in the most efficient manner.

Authority:  VP of Ops. The superintendent is granted full authority to terminate and recommend for promotions all personnel under his jurisdiction.

THE BOX: Job Description

  • Implement job specific safety plan and see that all safety regulations are properly adhered to
  • Evaluate workmanship, cleanliness, speed of crew according to specific project checklist
  • Ensure all personnel and sub contractors complete their work in a manner consistent with directions given by VP of Ops and according to industry standards
  • Complete and maintain a Daily/Weekly Progress Report detailing jobsite activity and problems encountered and/or solved on project assigned
  • Oversee time sheets, record of hours/windows being billed per project
  • Create final service punch-list items for all jobs assigned
  • Train and develop field personnel as assigned (OSHA & LEAD Certs, AAMA training, Job Box etc)
  • Weekly/Monthly Toolbox Meetings as necessary or instructed by VP of Operations
  • Attend final walk-thru with bldg mgr, super, or owner and resolve outstanding issues according to protocol
  • Primary point of contact with on-site owner’s rep or facilities director and present oneself in a professional, confident and knowledgeable manner
  • Maintain customer relations with other trades and supervisors as per Window City protocol

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  1. An ability to thoroughly understand and follow plans and shop drawings in the execution of a project.
  2. Ability to lead, manage and administrate conflict between field staff
  3. Thorough knowledge of construction techniques and the imagination to derive the most efficient method of completing a task.
  4. Skill of foresight to predict problems before they develop
  5. Ability to know when to run an errand or arrange a pick-up as needed.
  6. Ability to transport a crew/personnel/material, drop off or pick-up
  7. A conscientious attitude towards controlling job costs and adhering to progress schedules.
  8. Ability to communicate our plan and sequence of activities to all field employees and material suppliers to effectively implement our goals.
  9. Ability to review the job schedule and cost breakdown, resolving all differences of opinion with Project Manager and VP of Ops at the beginning of the job.
  10. Ability to set up the job office (large scale jobs) and equipment trailers and see that safety rules and regulations are posted in a conspicuous place.
  11. Ability to administer base first aid in case of emergency.
  12. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the plans and specifications for each project assigned.
  13. Maintain a high standard of quality control at all times.
  14. See that good housekeeping practices are observed and maintained by all Window City personnel and subcontractors.
  15. Maintain a good relationship with the Sales Project Managers and Logistics Coordinator, seeking their assistance in the scheduling of materials, equipment and work.
  16. Ability to assist the foremen with any problems (measuring, field cuts, etc).
  17. Ability to make out the Superintendent’s daily report each day (email)
  18. Review attendance each morning and afternoon for your respective projects.
  19. Forward all receipts and shipping documents to the office when applicable.
  20. Attend pre-construction and construction meetings, taking notes on areas that may present a future problem and present to the Project Manager for consultation.
  21. Assist inspectors on their project reviews. (HMFA, DCA, etc)
  22. Maintain good relationships with inspectors, architects, subcontractors and other key people connected with the project.
  23. Coordinate maintenance of heavy equipment on the project and supervise effective utilization.
  24. Attend, on request, all technical meetings for the purpose of discussing job progress and problem areas.
  25. Maintain close communication with Sales/Project Managers on any problems which may develop.
  26. Assist Sales/Project Manager in estimating percent completion of each item for monthly invoicing and of labor for each job cost report.
