We have an opening for an experienced glazing professional who wants to be an integral part of our family-oriented company.  This is a great opportunity to lead others with a passion for the glass and glazing trade as part of the other recognized industry experts of Slade Glass Co.

As Glazier/Installer Lead, you serve as our glazing expert with commercial and residential glass installation, aluminum fabrication, and glass cutting.  You will guide and lead your assigned helpers in the installation and repair a wide variety of projects from curtain walls and retail storefronts to mirrors and shower stalls.  You will also play a key part in mentoring and developing the glazing skills of the next generation of glazing industry craftsmen.

The goal is for you to lead and mentor one of our installation teams in helping us deliver outstanding craftsmanship, memorable customer service, top value, and professionalism in any job we undertake.

Primary Duties

1. Lead/guide other glaziers with handling and installation of large sheets of glass, windows, mirrors, storefront materials, shower stalls, and doors, according to blueprints and drawings.

2. Oversee and assist with product installation instructions and building plans to install, troubleshoot, and resolve on-site construction project problems.

3. Manage and conduct work in the shop to fabricate, cut customer glass/mirrors, loading/unloading of trucks, and operating power tools/equipment.

4. Serve as the key company ambassador ensuring open communications internally, among all team members/project managers, and externally with our demanding customers.

This role oversees: Between 1 to 7 helpers depending on scope/scale of project.


  • Oversees, conducts, and trains team members with:
    •  Measuring and installation of commercial glass, windows, mirrors, and doors.
    • Measuring and installation of residential shower stalls, mirrors, windows, and doors.
    • Measuring openings and dimensions of areas to determine work procedures.
    • Installing metal frames or channels for glass.
    • Cutting and attaching gaskets to surfaces in preparation for glass installation.
    • Applying adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatings to various surfaces.
    • Using power tools and hand tools to drill and fasten framing members to the building structure.
    • Attaching hinges, handles, locks, closers, or other hardware to complete window/door installations.
    • Loading, unloading, moving, and arranging glass or mirrors onto delivery trucks, using suction cups or cranes to lift glass; ensuring material integrity.
    • Assembling, erecting, or dismantling scaffolds, rigging, or hoisting equipment.
  • Communicating issues with the Project Manager as soon as they arise.
  • Ensuring a clean and safe work environment; participating in jobsite and safety meetings.
  • Participating in and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Insurable with a clean driving record to drive company-provided vehicle
  • At least 3-5 years glazing and/or construction trades experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 75-lbs and able to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to read tape measures and levels, and to perform basic measurement calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings/sketches.
  • Must have personal tools required of the trade, and reliable transportation to the shop.
  • Requires excellent communication skills and ability to work within tight time schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Quality focused; takes initiative to problem solve at the lowest level, while knowing when to ask for help.
  • Willingness and aptitude for guiding and mentoring other less-experienced glaziers.
  • Professional appearance and ability to provide excellent customer service to our clients is essential.

TRAVEL & LOCATION: Travel is required 80-percent of the time as a driver in company vehicles. No overnight travel is required, and actual travel times will vary depending on job site location. Location of employment is in Boulder, CO. Work from home is not possible.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
